11-Year-Old League City Girl Bakes Hundreds of Cookies to Raise Money for Flood Relief

After deadly floods hit the Texas Hill Country on July 4, an 11-year-old girl from League City stepped up. Kamryn Balfour wasn’t directly affected but felt the loss deeply. The League City girl flood relief effort began not with fanfare, but with flour, sugar, and a lot of heart.

League City Girl Flood Relief Effort Begins With Homemade Cookies

Kamryn was attending Kickapoo Kamp in Kerrville when the floods hit nearby Camp Mystic. Though her camp stayed dry, the news devastated her. More than two dozen campers and counselors died just 20 miles away. Kamryn felt compelled to help. She didn’t wait for someone else to act—she started baking.

Once home in Houston, Kamryn decided to sell cookies and donate the money. She didn’t take shortcuts. Kamryn baked every batch from scratch. A friend with a commercial kitchen offered space, where she made 17 batches in one day. In total, Kamryn baked 27 batches—over 1,000 cookies.

League City Girl Flood Relief Drive Nears Goal

Kamryn carefully bagged each batch with pink bows and named her treats “Kamryn’s Kravings.” She sold them for $5 per bag. Her dedication inspired friends, family, and the community. So far, Kamryn has raised $2,945. Her goal is $3,000—and she’s getting close.

Kamryn’s mom, Kelly Balfour, said her daughter was deeply moved by the tragedy. The League City girl flood relief mission came straight from Kamryn’s heart. At just 11 years old, she turned heartbreak into real help—one cookie at a time.
