In a significant development in a long-standing missing persons case, Derbyshire Police have discovered human remains believed to be those of Izabela Zablocka, a Polish woman who vanished nearly 15 years ago.

The remains were found in the garden of a residence on Princes Street in Normanton, West Yorkshire, where Zablocka was last known to reside. This discovery has led to the arrest of four individuals in connection with the case.

The Disappearance of Izabela Zablocka

Izabela Zablocka, 30, moved from Poland to the United Kingdom in 2009, settling in Normanton, West Yorkshire. Discovery of Human Remains

In May 2025, as part of the ongoing investigation, police conducted a search at Zablocka’s last known residence on Princes Street. During this search, human remains were uncovered in the property’s garden. While formal identification is pending, authorities have informed Zablocka’s family in Poland of the discovery and are providing them with regular updates.

Arrests Made in Connection with the Case

Following the discovery, a 39-year-old woman previously arrested on suspicion of murder was re-arrested. Additionally, two other women, aged 39 and 43, and a 41-year-old man were arrested over the past week. All four individuals have been released on bail pending further inquiries. Derbyshire Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Zablocka’s disappearance and death.

Appeal for Public Assistance

Detective Inspector Kane Martin, leading the investigation, has emphasized the importance of community assistance in solving this case. Authorities are appealing to the public for any information related to Zablocka’s disappearance, particularly from July or August 2010. Crimestoppers is offering a £20,000 reward for information leading to a conviction. Individuals with relevant information are urged to contact Derbyshire Police or Crimestoppers anonymously.

Community Reaction and Ongoing Investigation

The revelation of Zablocka’s remains has shocked the local community, bringing renewed attention to a case that had remained dormant for over a decade. Residents of Normanton have expressed their concern and are hopeful that the investigation will bring justice for Zablocka and closure for her family. Derbyshire Police have assured the public of their commitment to uncovering the truth and holding those responsible accountable.
