Latest pop sensation Lizzo is currently being sued by her tour dancers for harassment, a hostile work environment, as well as employment discrimination. The pop star who is known for her daring musical approach and body positivity has recently been under fire for some hefty allegations.

The legal action accuses the singer Lizzo, her dance captain Tanisha Scott, and her production company Big Grrrl Big Touring (BGBT) of various misconducts.

The Lizzo Lawsuit Allegations

The accusations against Lizzo include sexual, religious, and racial harassment, discrimination, assault, and false imprisonment. According to Page Six, the singer has allegedly also fat-shamed a dancer and pressured her to touch a performer’s breasts during a nightclub event in Amsterdam.

Lizzo’s former dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez claim they were also forced to attend sex shows and interact with other dancers between 2021 and 2023.

The lawsuit claims that Shirlene Quigley, the dance team’s captain, imposed her Christian beliefs onto the crew members. This allegedly went too far as the captain kept criticizing those who were engaged in premarital sex.

Additionally, Ms. Quigley is accused of discussing the virginity of one of the former dancers openly, even going so far as to post about it on social media.

Lawsuit Alleges Discrimination

The allegations go further as the plaintiffs claimed racial discrimination. The lawsuit mentions that the black members of the dance crew were treated differently compared to other team members. The plaintiffs also mention the unfair paying distributions. These allegations suggest unfair and biased treatment based on race.

In 2021, Arianna Davis and Crystal Williams joined Lizzo’s performances after participating in her reality TV show “Watch Out for the Big Grrrls.” The show’s main focus was to give the spotlight to plus-size dancers. However, in 2023, both plaintiffs were unfortunately fired from their roles.

The third plaintiff, Noelle Rodriguez, started working for Lizzo in 2021. She participated in Lizzo’s “Rumors” music video and then continued her journey as Lizzo’s dancer.

Ms. Rodriguez chose to resign since both Ms. Davis and Williams had their contracts terminated.

Lizzo is best known for mentioning body positivity and exclusivity for everyone. This news, therefore, came as a shock to many fans. Although Lizzo has been asked to comment, the singer has not yet responded publicly to the allegations. The claims made in the case will be tested in court.
