These are all questions we have been asking ourselves ever since we witnessed the occurrences on the 4th season of Stranger Things which aired on May 27, 2022. It seems like we are finally getting answers based on these Stranger Things final season announcements.
Stranger Things Final Season Announcement
Production has commenced on the fifth and purportedly final season of “Stranger Things,” as confirmed by Netflix along with a cast photo. Despite earlier announcements by series creators, the Duffer Brothers, in 2022 about the show’s fifth season, the production faced a delay of over seven months due to strikes by the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA). The Duffer Brothers expressed their eagerness to resume filming but highlighted the impossibility during the strikes and hoped for a fair resolution soon.
When Can We Expect the Stranger Things Final Season?
The fifth season of “Stranger Things” is expected to debut after 2025, according to Variety. Executive producer Shawn Levy characterized the upcoming season as featuring significant cinematic storytelling akin to major films, emphasizing its grand scale comparable to the biggest movies in the industry.
Not So Subtle, Subtle Hints
The creators and cast of “Stranger Things” have been providing hints about the upcoming fifth season. Key clues about the storyline are suggested in “Stranger Things: The First Shadow,” a stage production currently running in London’s West End. The Duffer Brothers mentioned in a joint email statement to EW that the play offers not-so-subtle teases and hints about the direction of certain storylines in season 5. They emphasized that the stage production explores themes and ideas that will be further developed in the upcoming season of the show.

“Stranger Things” is an American sci-fi television series created by the Duffer Brothers and initially released as a Netflix original on July 15, 2016. Set in the 1980s, the show revolves around the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. The first season, beginning in November 1983 follows multiple groups investigating the disappearance of Will Byers. Subsequent seasons expand the narrative, delving into the repercussions of the initial events. The fourth season extends the storyline beyond Hawkins, and a fifth season is underway, marking the series’ conclusion. Additionally, there are plans for two spin-off series, one live-action and one animated.
Will the Cast Be the Same?
The final season of “Stranger Things” will feature Terminator actor Linda Hamilton, as revealed in a cast photo taken on the first day of production. The photo includes original stars Finn Wolfhard, David Harbour, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, and Millie Bobby Brown. Notably, Millie Bobby Brown had previously called out the show’s creators in July 2022. While most of the main cast is returning for the final adventure, Eduardo Franco, who portrayed Argyle in season four, has officially ruled out his appearance in season five. Despite Argyle’s popularity among fans, Franco was not pictured in the cast photo released on the first day of filming for the new season.
Is Argyle on the Stranger Things Final Season?
During a conversation on the YouTube show, host Steve Varley asked Eduardo Franco about fans’ concerns regarding his absence from the cast photo on the first day of filming for Stranger Things season five. Varley inquired if Franco could provide reassurance about his involvement in the season, to which Franco responded, “It’s nice to hear that there’s some sort of, you know, concern or something, you know what I mean? But I’ve never, I never got a phone call. So yeah, I think that’s it.” Indicating that he had not been contacted, leaving uncertainty about his participation in the upcoming season.
