On Thursday, a statement that claimed rapper and influencer Lil Tay had passed away was removed from her verified Instagram account. This deletion has raised questions about the accuracy of the initial announcement regarding her supposed death.
TMZ also reported on Thursday afternoon that the teenager’s family shared a statement with the outlet, where Lil Tay stated that her Instagram account “has been compromised by a third party and used to spread shocking misinformation and unfounded rumors about me.”
What’s the Truth?
Lil Tay, who was announced dead through an Instagram post on Wednesday, August 9th, is actually alive.
An announcement that has since been removed from Tay’s Instagram was posted yesterday, stating:
“It is with a heavy heart that we share the devastating news of our beloved Claire’s sudden and tragic passing.“
The post also mentioned the passing of her brother, further adding to the sorrow with “another unimaginable death.“
The sudden and tragic “passing”, took the internet by storm as everyone expressed their condolences and wanted to know more about what happened to the teen internet rapper and social media star. Lil Tay’s death has ever since been one of the most searched-for topics in the last couple of days.
However, one day after the message was posted, the Instagram post got deleted without warning. Lil Tay reached out to TMZ and told them:
“I want to make it clear that my brother and I are safe and alive, but I’m completely heartbroken, and struggling to even find the right words to say.
It’s been a very traumatizing 24 hours. All day yesterday, I was bombarded with endless heartbreaking and tearful phone calls from loved ones all while trying to sort out this mess.”
Lil Tay also thanked Meta, the company behind Instagram, for helping her get her account back from the hackers’ grasp.
Who Is Lil Tay?
Lil Tay rose to fame as the “Youngest Flexer of the Century” in 2018, captivating audiences with her rap skills and lavish hip-hop lifestyle showcased on various social media platforms. Despite gaining over 3.2 million followers on Instagram, Lil Tay has not posted anything since 2018.
That is because the last time Lil Tay was out in public, she was facing a tough custody battle with her parents in 2018. Her father had allegedly abused Lil Tay and swindled her out of her money, as claimed by her brother who notified everyone with a GoFundMe request.
This opened up the discussion of whether this whole death scenario was a hoax or even planned by her parents to make the social media influencer viral again and use her money for further necessities.
Whatever the reason behind why this happened, the question still remains: How far are people actually willing to go for clout and attention? Do you believe that Lil Tay’s account was really hacked? Let us know down below!
