Fans of the hit HBO series “Euphoria” were eagerly awaiting the premiere of season 3, but it seems that they will have to wait a little longer. “Euphoria” has gained a massive following since its debut, captivating audiences with its raw and unapologetic portrayal of teenage life. With its complex characters and gripping storylines, the show has become a cultural phenomenon. However, we will not be hearing anything new from our favorite characters any time soon. Euphoria season 3 has officially been delayed. But why?
Here Is Why Euphoria Season 3 Is Now Delayed
The filming of the upcoming third season of HBO’s “Euphoria” has been temporarily halted as creator Sam Levinson continues to work on scripts. The cast has been given permission to pursue other acting opportunities during this time. While there was no firm production start date for Season 3, filming was anticipated to start in the next few months. HBO and Levinson remain committed to delivering an exceptional third season.
After premiering her new horror movie “Immaculate” at South by Southwest earlier this month, Sydney Sweeney was asked about taking time off. She replied, “I go into Euphoria.”
Is the Euphoria Season 3 Delay Coming From “The Idol” and Its “Failure”?
HBO denied that the delay in the production of “Euphoria” Season 3 was connected to the controversy surrounding “The Idol.” An unnamed source emphasized that there’s still full confidence in Sam Levinson as the show’s creator. The delay is attributed to the evolving nature of the show, which requires more time for the creative process. While HBO didn’t specify the duration of the delay, they reaffirmed the commitment to deliver Season 3 to viewers in 2025.
What Are the Goals of Season 3?
Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content, stated in November that the intention is for Season 3 of “Euphoria” to debut in 2025, which remains the target. Sam Levinson, the show’s creator, described Season 3 as “film noir” in an August interview with Elle. He teased that Zendaya’s character, a recovering addict, would delve into the concept of maintaining principles in a corrupt world.
The Aftermath of Euphoria
The highly praised drama series “Euphoria,” which aired its second season over two years ago, has seen its cast members experience significant career growth. Notably, stars Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and recurring actor Colman Domingo have become movie stars. Domingo recently also received an Oscar nomination and Storm Reid won an Emmy earlier this year. With the cast members in high demand, HBO has allowed them to pursue other projects during the production delay. However, they are contractually obligated to prioritize “Euphoria.” There were discussions about potentially making a movie instead of a third season, but the focus has shifted back to producing a new season.
