From streaming numbers to chart-topping hits, Swift’s latest release has been making history left and right. But, what records did Taylor Swift’s new album break in reality?
Taylor Swift’s New Album “Tortured Poets Department”
Taylor Swift surprised fans with an even bigger release than anticipated, dropping 31 new songs in just two hours on April 19, far exceeding the previously confirmed 16 main and four bonus tracks. She had been working on her latest project, produced by Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner, for about two years before its release. She mentioned at a February Eras Tour show that she had started working on it immediately after submitting her Billboard 200-topping album “Midnights” to her label in 2022.
The news cycle surrounding her breakups with Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy, as well as her new relationship with Travis Kelce, added to the hype leading up to the release. Swift also emphasized at another Eras concert that she had never felt the need for songwriting more than with this album.
