Woman arrested near Mar-a-Lago after she approached the estate claiming to have an “urgent message” for Donald Trump. Caroline Shaw, 49, parked outside the south gate in a Mercedes van on July 7 and told Secret Service agents she needed to speak to the former president.
She also claimed there were guns in her vehicle, prompting immediate action.
Woman Arrested Near Mar-a-Lago Sparks Security Concerns
Caroline Shaw, a 49-year-old from Orlando, arrived at Mar-a-Lago around 10 p.m. and walked to the security gate. She told agents she had an urgent message for Trump and claimed weapons were in her vehicle. Secret Service detained her and secured the car for investigation.
Authorities discovered Shaw’s driver’s license was suspended since April 2023. Her vehicle registration had also expired in 2021. On July 9, she remained in Palm Beach County Jail on a $2,000 bond. She pleaded not guilty and was ordered to stay away from Trump and all his properties.

Alongside traffic violations, authorities requested a risk protection order. This would prevent Shaw from possessing firearms or ammunition for a year. Her actions come amid a series of bizarre security breaches at Mar-a-Lago.
Other recent incidents include individuals attempting to climb walls, drive stolen vehicles to the estate, or meet Trump and his family. Most of them faced charges ranging from trespassing to attempted murder.
Shaw’s case is the latest reminder of ongoing security concerns surrounding the estate.
