Saudi royal Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal has died at 36 two decades after a tragic car crash left him in a coma.

The accident happened in London in 2005 when the prince was a teenager. He suffered severe brain damage and never woke up.

Since then, he was kept on life support at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh.

His family refused to take him off life support, despite doctors’ advice. They held on to faith and hope.

His father, Prince Khaled bin Talal, once said:
“If God had wanted him to die in the accident, he would have been in his grave now.”

In 2019, the prince made small movements. He lifted a finger. Slightly moved his head.
It gave the family a glimpse of hope, but he never regained full consciousness.

Prince Al-Waleed Passes Away

On July 19, the prince passed away. His father confirmed the news, writing:
“With deep sorrow, we mourn our beloved son. May Allah have mercy on him.”

Prince Al-Waleed was often called the “Sleeping Prince.”
He became a symbol of hope, patience, and unwavering faith for many.

Tributes poured in from around the world.
The Global Imams Council offered condolences to King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the royal family. Online, many people shared prayers and messages of support.
