Diane Keaton, the beloved Hollywood icon who died on October 11, 2025, left behind a final social media message that many are now seeing as a poignant farewell.

In April of this year, she posted a warm tribute to her dog, Reggie, capturing a simple moment that now resonates deeply with fans.

A Little Love for Her Best Friend

Her last Instagram post came on April 11, in honor of National Pet Day. The images showed her at home with Reggie, her Golden Retriever, the two of them seeming relaxed and content. The post was created in collaboration with the home brand Hudson Grace, and included the caption: “Proof our pets have great taste too! Happy National Pet Day from HG & @diane_keaton.”

Keaton had introduced Reggie to the public in 2020, sharing playful posts about her new dog and her growing affection for him. She was always known for being private in many areas of life, but she openly shared small joys—like those moments with Reggie—online.

Health Decline and Privacy in Diane Keaton’s Final Months

While that pet-celebrating post was the last she made publicly, those close to her later revealed that her health had “declined very suddenly.”

A longtime friend, Carole Bayer Sager, recounted seeing Keaton just a few weeks before her passing. She said Keaton looked very thin and had lost a lot of weight—a noticeable change to someone used to her vibrant presence.

The decline was reportedly private; many friends and even colleagues were unaware of how serious her condition had become. Keaton’s family requested privacy in the wake of her death, leaving specifics about her final days largely undisclosed.

When Small Moments Carry Big Meaning

In hindsight, that final snapshot with Reggie feels more than just a casual post. It’s now viewed by many fans as a subtle and tender gesture: a glimpse into her life, her love for her pet, and a quiet note of presence.

Keaton’s legacy was always tied to moments of intimacy—her offbeat humor, her fashion choices, her frank reflections of life. In that sense, her last post fits her persona well: nothing grandiose, just a true slice of life.
