On a recent episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, Kim Kardashian revisited her past relationship with Pete Davidson and revealed a moment that struck her deeply.

She confessed that watching Kanye West’s 2022 music video Eazy — in which an animated version of Davidson was kidnapped and buried alive — made her feel “really sad” and gave her a new perspective on romantic safety.

When the Video Crossed a Line

Kardashian described how West’s Eazy video depicted a claymation Davidson being abducted and interred, suggesting a violent narrative against him. She said:

“That made me feel really sad. That really wasn’t fair for him.”

She added that, as she watched it, she felt sorrow and sympathy for Pete, who tried to maintain composure, saying, “I got this, don’t worry, it’s all good” — or at least acted that way. But training herself to be emotionally guarded after that moment, she admitted:

“It must suck to be put in that position. So it’s had me put up this guard where I don’t want to put anyone in that position.”

Kardashian explained that, in some relationships, the shadows of an ex can loom large — shaping how open someone is willing to be. She said part of her hesitation in newer relationships is rooted in not wanting to expose someone else to similar attacks.

Exes, Public Personas & Emotional Guardrails for Kim Kardashian

Throughout the interview, Kardashian acknowledged how public relationships complicate personal healing. She admitted to expecting more from partners — not just in affection, but in emotional resilience. But the vivid imagery from that video clearly left a mark.

She also said she now assumes distance to protect people she cares about: “It’s easier if I just, maybe stay away.” Yet she balanced that with a reminder: she doesn’t want her life ruled by fear of what others say. Saying “you never know,” she recognizes vulnerability is part of connection.

Looking Forward: Boundaries & Trust

This reflection is less a criticism than a boundary she’s learned to draw. For Kim, the lesson seems to be: protection is not the same as shutting down. She’s advocating for relationships built on safety, respect, and the recognition that external narratives can sometimes hurt even more than internal ones.

By opening up about that pain, she offers glimpses of emotional continuity across her life — how she’s trying to be wiser, kinder, and more cautious with her heart. And for listeners, it’s a reminder that celebrities, too, are walking through past wounds and trying to navigate the space between public image and private truth.
