Kim Kardashian has long talked about her ambition to become a lawyer, an unconventional journey spurred by her father’s legacy in the legal world.

But during a recent lie-detector interview with Vanity Fair and host Teyana Taylor, Kardashian revealed an unexpected culprit behind her exam struggles: ChatGPT.

A Toxic “Frenemy” Relationship

She admitted she uses the AI chatbot for studying law and even for legal “advice,” snapping pictures of questions and feeding them to the bot. But instead of reliable help, she says she gets wrong answers and ends up failing tests “all the time.”

Kardashian confessed that her usage of ChatGPT feels less like a study tool and more like a “frenemy”—a toxic friend that leads her astray. When the bot errs, she literally yells at it: “You made me fail! Why did you do this?” She laughed.

Then ChatGPT responds with something like: “This is just teaching you to trust your own instincts. You knew the answer all along.” The actress-turned-law-student says she screenshots the conversations, shares them in group chats, and warns the bot it’s on thin ice.

The Bigger Picture: AI in Study Culture

What makes this confession noteworthy is not just the celebrity angle but the spotlight on how heavily students may lean on AI tools—even when those tools are unreliable. Kardashian’s openness underscores a growing concern: AI may promise convenience, but it doesn’t replace careful study, expert teaching, or understanding.

Her journey—first passing the “baby bar” after multiple attempts, now taking the main bar exam—already had challenges. But blaming ChatGPT signals how complex the route has become when technology gets mixed in.

So What Does This Mean for Kim (and Everyone Else)?

For Kardashian, this moment is another twist in a long legal-career narrative. She’s juggling business empires, a media presence, a new legal-drama show, and serious study. Admitting that her tool of choice failed her adds humility with a side of spectacle.

For others, it serves as a caution: just because an AI answer seems quick and easy, it doesn’t guarantee accuracy—or success on a high-stakes exam. If you’re entering a field where precision matters (like law), your tools matter. And sometimes, as Kardashian hints, so does trusting your own brain more than the bot.
