Newly unearthed emails linked to Jeffrey Epstein have ignited a political firestorm. In one 2018 message, Mark Epstein reportedly told his brother Jeffrey to “ask him if Putin has the photos of Trump blowing Bubba.” That line quickly went viral — especially online, where “Bubba” is widely understood as a nickname for Bill Clinton.

Social media users didn’t hold back: critics called Trump’s response to the leak “the worst damage control,” accusing him of deflection, gaslighting, or trying to rewrite history at once.

Epstein’s Brother Pushes Back — “It Wasn’t Clinton”

Adding another layer, Jeffrey Epstein’s brother Mark stepped in with a clarification: he says “Bubba” was never meant to refer to Bill Clinton. According to Mark, the email was a private joke between siblings and not a serious reference to any public figure.

He doubled down, calling out how the statement was being politicised: “Attaching political motives to a nickname distracts from the serious questions that remain unanswered.”

Trump Pivots to Investigation — Again

Responding to the uproar, Trump has called on the Department of Justice to launch an investigation into Epstein’s links to several Democrats, including Bill Clinton. He’s framed the push as political retaliation, calling the Democrats’ focus on Epstein a “hoax” and an attempt to deflect from larger failures.

Some see this as a classic Trump move: under pressure from scandal, shift the narrative to paint himself as the victim — referencing Clinton, Epstein’s past, and potential investigations.

Why the Internet Isn’t Letting This Go

Moreover, the story has captured the public’s imagination for a few reasons:

  • The salaciousness of the line: The phrase “Trump blowing Bubba” is, at minimum, salacious and bizarre enough to go viral on its own.
  • Epstein’s shadow: Epstein’s network involved extremely powerful people, and any new piece of chatter sparks broader questions about who knew what — and when.
  • Media and mistrust: Some see powerful debates being fueled by unverified or ambiguous lines — leaving the public to interpret, mock, or weaponise them.
