Epstein’s Brother Says Trump Held Back Files

Mark Epstein, the younger brother of Jeffrey Epstein, has made explosive claims: he says Donald Trump purposefully dragged his feet on releasing Epstein-related documents because there’s damaging material in them.
According to Mark, Trump “took so long” to support the files’ release because “things in there … would expose him.”
What Mark Epstein Is Actually Saying About Trump
- In a recent interview, Mark told CNN that Trump delayed backing the file release because he believed there was incriminating content. “There’s things in there he doesn’t want people to see,” he said.
- He also alleges that Trump and his brother Jeffrey were “very good friends” in the 1990s — even traveling together on private planes.
- According to Mark, Trump once called Jeffrey after winning the 2016 election — and Jeffrey told him Trump was surprised to win.
- Perhaps most provocatively, Mark claims Epstein told him he had “dirt … serious enough to ‘cancel the election.’”
Is Trump Just Scrambling or Covering Up?
Mark doesn’t just stop at delay — he alleges a very pointed cover-up strategy:
- He claims there’s a facility in Winchester, Virginia, where the Epstein files are being “scrubbed” to remove Republican names.
- He believes this redaction is part of a broader effort to shield GOP figures from potential fallout.
- Legal experts and independent observers have warned that even though Trump reversed his previous stance and now supports the file release, new investigations could be used as a “smokescreen” to continue delaying or blocking parts of the documents.
Pushback & Skepticism
Not everyone’s buying Mark’s claims at face value:
- There’s no public, independent confirmation yet for his more explosive allegations, like Trump having Epstein’s “election-canceling” dirt.
- Some legal commentators argue that the DOJ could legitimately withhold or redact certain material under ongoing investigation safeguards — calling the delay “strategic,” not necessarily malicious.
- Survivors of Epstein’s abuse have also voiced concern: they’ve urged full transparency and criticized any suggestion that file release is being politicized.

Why It Matters
- Transparency vs. power: If Mark is right, this isn’t just about Epstein — it’s about protecting very powerful people.
- Public trust: Claims like these fuel skepticism around how the Epstein investigation is being handled, especially by those in power.
- Legal consequences: What’s in those files could have serious implications — for survivors, for Epstein’s legacy, and for political figures.
