Newly disclosed emails from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Epstein files include previously unseen correspondence between Elon Musk and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, in which the tech billionaire discussed the possibility of visiting Epstein’s infamous Little Saint James island.

While the records show Musk asking about party dates and travel logistics in multiple messages, there is no evidence he ever actually made the trip — and Musk denies attending any gatherings there.

What the Epstein Emails Show About Musk

The emails — part of a massive release of more than 3 million pages tied to the Epstein investigation — include exchanges from 2012 and 2013 in which Musk appears to express interest in meeting Epstein on his private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands. In a November 2012 email, Musk responded to Epstein’s question about helicopter arrangements for a visit, saying he and then-partner Talulah Riley would be coming and asking, “What day/night will be the wildest party on your island?”

Another exchange in December 2013 shows Musk telling Epstein that he would be in the British Virgin Islands/St. Bart’s area over the holidays and asking when would be a good time to visit the island. Epstein replied that early January would work and offered space for him.

These communications show more sustained contact between Musk and Epstein than was previously disclosed, but there is no indication in the emails that a visit ultimately occurred.

Musk’s Response and Denials

Musk has publicly denied visiting Epstein’s island or having a substantial relationship with him. In statements on his social platform X, Musk called the release of the files “a distraction” and asserted that he had limited correspondence with Epstein, declining repeated invitations to travel to the island or fly on Epstein’s private jet known as the “Lolita Express.”

In defending himself, he reiterated that he has never been accused of any wrongdoing connected to Epstein and emphasised his support for the prosecution of those who committed crimes with Epstein. Musk’s comments indicate his belief that his emails could be misinterpreted or misused by critics, even though they appear in the DOJ’s public files.

Context of the DOJ Epstein Files Release

The emails between Musk and Epstein are part of a broader release mandated by the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which has made millions of pages of previously sealed documents available to the public. While inclusion in the files signals communication or reference, it does not imply criminal activity or legal wrongdoing by any individual named in the records.

The files have reignited scrutiny of Epstein’s extensive network — from tech leaders and business figures to international politicians — but authorities emphasise that raw emails or draft documents must be interpreted cautiously and do not themselves constitute proof of actions taken.
