Ada Daniel Longevity Journey
Born in Ambergate in 1915, Ada has lived through a century of history, witnessing the world change in ways unimaginable to many. Yet, despite the passage of time, Ada’s zest for life remains undiminished.
Ada’s journey through life took a different path than most. At the age of 27, she married Percy, a war veteran, and together they forged a life without children. Instead, Ada chose the companionship of dogs, particularly greyhounds, which became her cherished family. Her preference for canine companionship over traditional parenthood became her secret to longevity, a choice she firmly believed contributed to her long and fulfilling life.
Dogs Instead of Children
According to Kelly Goucher, the care home’s activity coordinator, Ada is undoubtedly a character. Goucher recounts Ada’s love for board games, with dominoes being her favorite pastime. But it’s Ada’s affinity for dogs that truly sets her apart. Goucher told BBC “I did ask her what her secret was once and she said it was to have dogs, not kids.” Living on Street Lane in Ripley, Ada’s greyhounds, all named after her street, filled her life with joy and companionship.
