They are requesting the release of communications. They claim these communications would demonstrate that Pitt was preventing Jolie from selling her share. This was unless she agreed to a stricter non-disclosure agreement (NDA).

In the recent court filing, Angelina Jolie’s lawyers allege that Brad Pitt’s history of physical abuse towards her began before their September 2016 plane trip. They claim that during this flight, Pitt also directed physical abuse toward their children for the first time. This prompted Jolie to leave him immediately.

A representative for Brad Pitt declined to comment on the matter. However, a friend of Pitt involved in the litigation stated that the allegations are part of a pattern of behavior by Jolie to introduce misleading information whenever a decision goes against her. The friend also pointed out that despite the allegations, a custody trial involving the entire history of their relationship resulted in a judge granting Pitt 50/50 custody.

How Is the Issue Between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Still Ongoing?

According to Angelina Jolie’s side, the lawsuit over the winery could have been avoided if Brad Pitt had purchased her share when she initially offered it. However, Jolie’s lawyers argue that Pitt declined the offer unless she agreed to a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). They suggest that Pitt’s refusal was due to his fear that confidential documents from their lengthy custody battle could be made public without the protection of the NDA.

In a filing from June 2023 by Brad Pitt’s legal team, it’s stated that Angelina Jolie suggested a broader non-disparagement clause as part of the deal regarding their winery. Pitt’s team, however, proposed a narrower clause aimed at protecting the business.

The NDA Issue Further Explained

Last year, the issue of the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) was discussed during court proceedings. In June 2023, a source representing Brad Pitt’s side characterized the NDA as a standard component of business transactions. Conversely, a source from Angelina Jolie’s side claimed that Pitt refused to finalize the sale of Miraval with Jolie. This was unless she agreed to remain silent about the alleged abuse.

What Did Brad Pitt Sue Jolie for?

In 2022, Brad Pitt filed a lawsuit against Angelina Jolie and her former company Nouvel. He alleged that they violated an agreement by selling her half of the winery without his approval. Pitt accused Jolie of deliberately withholding information about the sale to Tenute del Mondo. The latter is a company owned by Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler’s spirits manufacturer, Stoli Group.

When Angelina Jolie’s legal team mentioned the 2016 plane incident in a response filed for the winery case in October 2022, a source close to Brad Pitt expressed sadness. They stated: “It’s incredibly sad that she continues to rehash, revise, and reimagine her description of an event that happened six years ago, adding in completely untrue information to try to get additional attention for herself at the expense of their family.”
