A major iPhone 17 Pro Max leak has revealed exciting changes ahead of Apple’s next flagship release. This leak confirms a bold design shift, including a thicker build and a larger battery, promising better performance and longer battery life.

Expected to launch in September, the iPhone 17 Pro Max could become Apple’s most powerful phone yet.

According to reliable Weibo source Instant Digital, the iPhone 17 Pro Max leak suggests a 5,000mAh battery—Apple’s biggest ever in an iPhone. The previous model, the iPhone 16 Pro Max, had a 4,676mAh battery.

The new Pro Max may also be 8.725mm thick, slightly up from the 8.25mm thickness of its predecessor. This modest size increase could make room for that bigger battery while keeping the phone comfortable to hold.

Joe Rossignol from MacRumors adds, “With an extra 300mAh of battery capacity, the iPhone 17 Pro Max could offer around 35 hours of battery life, or more.”

This change would likely position the Pro Max ahead of many flagship Android rivals in battery performance—an area where Apple has historically trailed.

Stunning Battery Gains Could Redefine iPhone Usage

Battery life remains a top priority for iPhone users. While new features are exciting, they lose value if the device dies too quickly. Apple Insider estimates a gain of 324mAh, which may translate to multiple hours of extended use.

Even if the new figure and earlier physical size rumors are correct, it does not follow that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will have longer battery life. That depends on the rest of the iPhone 17 Pro Max design,” said Apple Insider.

Still, the thicker body combined with software and chip efficiency could push the Pro Max ahead of its rivals.

In addition to increased raw battery capacity, Apple’s A-series chips and iOS battery optimization could amplify power savings—giving users the best of both worlds.

The new design direction with the iPhone 17 Pro Max leak—thicker form factor, improved battery, and possibly new cooling tech—may signal a shift in Apple’s priorities. Instead of ultra-thin devices, Apple could now focus more on real-world performance and user demands.

If vapor chamber cooling becomes a reality, it could pave the way for more powerful gaming, smoother multitasking, and better thermal control. Combined with rumored camera improvements and robust battery life, this device could set the benchmark for premium smartphones.

Apple hasn’t confirmed any of these details yet, but if these leaks prove accurate, the iPhone 17 Pro Max may not just be a spec bump—it could represent a meaningful evolution in how iPhones are designed and used.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max leak doesn’t stop at battery size. Rumors suggest triple 48MP rear cameras and an upgraded 24MP front camera. While no camera differences between the Pro and Pro Max have been confirmed yet, Apple may once again reserve exclusive features for its largest and most premium device, continuing a trend seen in past releases.

Apple plans to launch the iPhone 17 Pro Max in the second week of September 2025, likely on September 9. Customers can pre-order it starting September 12 and buy it in stores by September 19.

Apple sets the base price around $1,199, while higher storage models may cost up to $1,299 due to new design and battery upgrades.
