The album earned 227,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. during the week ending March 14, making it the largest opening week for any album in 2024. Ariana Grande has previously topped the Billboard 200 chart with five albums: “Positions” (2020), “Thank U, Next” (2019), “Sweetener” (2018), “My Everything” (2014), and “Yours Truly” (2013).

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums in the U.S. each week based on multi-metric consumption, including album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit represents either one album sale, 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or a specific number of streams from ad-supported or paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video platforms. The chart for the week of March 23, 2024, will be available on Billboard’s website on March 19. For updates on chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on social media platforms.

How Did Ariana Grande Achieve This Rank?

“Eternal Sunshine” earned 227,000 equivalent album units in its debut week ending March 14, with streaming equivalent album (SEA) units comprising 148,000 (equating to nearly 195 million on-demand official streams), album sales totaling 77,000 (making it the best-selling album of the week), and track equivalent album (TEA) units reaching 2,000. This marks the largest debut of 2024, surpassing “Vultures 1” by Ye and Ty Dolla $ign, which debuted with 148,000 units. The album’s first-week sales were boosted by its availability in various physical and digital formats, including vinyl, CD, standard digital download, and a “slightly deluxe” digital download with bonus tracks.
