Who doesn’t dream of living in Europe? France with wine and fine dining, Italy with fashion and yummy pasta and pizza! What is holding you back from living out your dream? Well, living in Europe has one downfall amongst every positive thing it offers. And that is the fact that it can get quite expensive. That is where Italy has found a solution for you. This Italy village will pay you instead of you paying them to live in the beautiful setting. So, what is the catch?

The Beautiful Italy Village Offering to Pay for You to Live There

Presicce, situated in the Puglia region of Italy, is joining the trend of attracting new residents by offering financial incentives. Officials in the town have introduced a program called “Welcome to Presicce-Acquarica.” People who commit to buying and permanently residing in an empty house can receive up to €30,000 (approximately $30,000). The homes available for purchase, constructed before 1991, start at 25,000 euros. They present an affordable opportunity for people to get a new residence in this charming Italian destination.

Presicce-Acquarica, a municipality formed by the merger of Presicce and Acquarica del Capo in 2019, offers an appealing destination for potential residents. The towns boast picturesque landscapes with stately churches, charming winding streets, and abundant olive trees. The broader Salento region, where Presicce-Acquarica is located, is renowned for its intricate caves, coastal watchtowers, and vibrant food culture. Additionally, it stands out as one of Italy’s most LGBTQ+-friendly holiday spots, providing a diverse and welcoming environment for those considering a move to this scenic area.

Why Is This Italy Village Paying People to Live There?

To counter the widespread issue of depopulation plaguing numerous rural Italian towns, the picturesque Presicce-Acquarica settlement in Salento, southern Italy, is introducing an innovative program. Under this initiative, individuals are offered a generous incentive of €30,000 to make the move to this charming region, known for being the geographical “heel” in Italy’s iconic “boot” shape.

The scheme aims to revitalize communities grappling with diminishing populations, fostering a renewed sense of life and vibrancy in an area grappling with demographic challenges. By providing a substantial financial incentive, the project aspires to attract new residents, thereby contributing to the broader mission of combatting depopulation in the region.

So, What Is the Catch?

Well, even things like this can be too good to be true. The main catch is that you need to commit to buying a house there and making it your official living space. The money you offer can only be used for buying or fixing up the house, and it covers half of your total expenses.

Simply put, you will need to drop at least €30,000 of your own money on the property. Still, it’s a steal compared to crazy prices in big cities like London or New York. And because it’s a grant, you don’t have to worry about paying it back. So, if you’re up for a change and keen on a sweet deal, this might just be your ticket to an affordable Italian home.

What do you think? Would this Italy village be a perfect destination for you?
