At the recent Renaissance World Tour performance in Boston, Beyoncé, the iconic 41-year-old singer, used her platform to address the sexual harassment allegations surrounding Lizzo. During her Tuesday show on August 1st, something noteworthy caught the attention of both fans and the media.
Beyoncé skipped over Lizzo’s name in the lineup of influential Black female entertainers featured on her hit song “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix)”.
In the remixed version of the song, Beyoncé pays respect to a group of remarkable Black women in the entertainment industry. Among the names are figures such as Lauryn Hill, Kelly Rowland, Erykah Badu, and the talented Lizzo.
This shoutout aims to celebrate the contributions of these exceptional artists while mentioning their impact on the music world. As Beyoncé’s verse resonates with audiences, it serves as a beautiful tribute to the trailblazing women who have left an indelible mark on the industry.
Beyoncé chose to emphasize Erykah Badu’s name instead, repeating it four times during the performance. This subtle alteration in the lyrics seemed to send a powerful message, potentially reflecting her stance on the recent sexual harassment allegations involving Lizzo.
Coincidence? I Think Not!
On the very day when Lizzo, also known as Melissa Jefferson, found herself entangled in a sexual harassment lawsuit, Beyoncé made a subtle but catching statement.
The news of Lizzo being sued by her three former dancers, namely Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, for allegations including sexual harassment, religious harassment, disability discrimination, and creating a hostile work environment, has recently surfaced in the media.
In addition to Lizzo, the lawsuit also involves her tour company, Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc. (BGBT), and dance captain, Shirlene Quigley.

As expected, Beyoncé’s actions have sparked a huge online debate, with many speaking out about Beyoncé’s support for black female artists and the common and broader issue of sexual harassment within the entertainment industry.
While the singer did not explicitly address the lawsuit or mention Lizzo by name, Beyoncé’s subtle dig during her performance seemed to resonate deeply with her fans.
Although Beyoncé herself hasn’t made any public statements regarding this moment during her “Break My Soul” performance, it has started conversations about the connection of music and how one uses their platform to discuss social issues.
