After nearly eight years of legal wrangling, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have officially finalized their divorce. What began as one of Hollywood’s most captivating love stories turned into a prolonged legal battle that stretched far beyond headlines and red carpets.
From custody disputes to shared business ventures, the couple’s split was anything but simple. Now, with the case finally closed, Brad Pitt is offering a rare comment—and it’s not what fans might have expected.
Brad Pitt’s First Words Since the Settlement
In a recent interview with GQ, Pitt, 61, acknowledged the finalization but seemed unfazed by the moment many saw as the end of an era. “I don’t think it was that major of a thing,” he said. “It’s just something that has come to fruition… legally.” For Pitt, the divorce was less of an emotional milestone and more of a box checked—an administrative conclusion to a chapter he had already moved on from personally.

This is Pitt’s first public statement since the divorce was quietly finalized in December 2024. The former couple, who share six children, had been legally separated for years, but ongoing disagreements, particularly over custody and their French winery, Château Miraval, kept the legal process dragging.
Jolie’s View: Relieved But Worn Down
Sources close to Angelina Jolie paint a very different picture. The actress, 48, is said to feel “relieved” that the process is finally over, but not without emotional cost. According to People, those close to her say she’s “exhausted” from nearly a decade of fighting to protect her children and navigate the emotional fallout of the split.
Throughout the years, Jolie has largely stayed out of the public eye, focusing on her children and humanitarian work. Though she hasn’t made a formal statement since the finalization, those familiar with her situation say she hopes the end of the legal proceedings will allow her family to begin a more peaceful chapter.
New Chapters, New Relationships
Pitt, meanwhile, appears to be settling into a new rhythm. He’s currently dating jewelry executive Ines de Ramon, and by his own admission, he’s in a more secure and supportive place. “I’ve got friends, I’ve got laughter, I’ve got family,” he told GQ. “I’m feeling pretty grounded.”

On the professional front, Pitt is preparing for the release of F1, his much-anticipated Formula 1 racing film, which hits theaters in June 2025. He’s also taken a step back from producing projects under Plan B, signaling a possible shift in focus toward acting and personal projects.
For fans, the finalization of Pitt and Jolie’s divorce marks the official end of a relationship that once captivated the world. But for the couple themselves, it seems that the ending may have come long ago. As Pitt put it, the paperwork was merely a formality—life, for both, has already moved on.
