Weddings are a time of joy and celebration, where couples come together to declare their love for one another in front of family and friends. However, one special wedding ceremony took a surprising and heartwarming turn when the bride and groom made the bold decision to set themselves on fire. But, why did they do it?
Who Are the Bride and Groom Who Set Themselves on Fire?
The couple met as stunt doubles in the film industry and have worked on projects like Yellowstone and Hereditary, incorporating their shared careers into their wedding day with an explosive stunt. They paid homage to their profession by igniting a bouquet of flowers, which spread flames over them as they walked hand in hand. Footage of the daring stunt has been circulating on social media, but it’s important to note that it shouldn’t be attempted at home. Cheers from guests can be heard in the background as the scene unfolds.
But, Why Would They Do It?
Gabe Jessop and his wife Ambyr incorporated their talent into their wedding by adding a unique touch. During the ceremony, a video captured the moment when a man set Ambyr’s bouquet on fire. Then the flames spread to cover the couple’s backs. A photographer captured the scene, resulting in an incredible image.
The duo were seen fully emerged in flames.
After the bouquet caught fire, the couple ran past their guests before kneeling to allow a fire extinguisher to put out the flames. The video, shared on TikTok by wedding DJ Russ Powell, gained immense popularity. It has over 15 million views and 2.8 million likes. Powell commented that Ambyr and Gabe, who met on set, made traditional sparkler exits seem dull in comparison.
How the Internet Reacted
Viewers left various comments on the TikTok video. One remarked on the intensity of the stunt, while another joked about the stress the photographer must have felt. Concerns were raised about the couple’s safety. This prompted reassurances from the uploader that precautions were taken, such as using anti-burn gel and a protective wig. Some users humorously expressed that their own weddings should be as exciting, while others drew comparisons to a scene from The Hunger Games where actors are set alight.
Would you and your partner ever dare to take it to this level at your wedding?
