Weddings are often filled with unique and memorable moments, but this British couple took it to a whole new level by having a penguin as the ring-bearer on their special day.
The adorable photos that captured this sweet moment are sure to melt your heart. Let’s take a closer look at this one-of-a-kind wedding and the star of the show, the penguin ring-bearer.
This Penguin Ring-Bearer Stole the Show
A British couple added a unique twist to their wedding ceremony in Shropshire by surprising guests with a penguin serving as the ring-bearer. Wedding photographer Alex Ford shared images of the event.
Jen’s brother, Adam, and Tom’s sister, Carys, were unexpectedly revealed as the ring bearers, surprising family and friends. The couple pretended to forget their wedding bands during the ceremony, causing unease among guests. However, they swiftly returned with a 25-inch penguin named Pringle, whom they had booked in advance, and Pringle accompanied them down the aisle with the rings.
The couple had arranged for the penguin, named Pringle, to be part of their ceremony in advance. Pringle’s involvement on February 3 delighted both the guests and added a delightful touch to the couple’s wedding day.
How Was This Possible?
Adam, Pringle’s handler, enticed the penguin down the aisle with a bucket of fish. Pringle then posed for photos with the couple and their 80 guests. Widget, Pringle’s penguin friend, was also at the venue to offer moral support and boost Pringle’s confidence.
Initially considering a goose as a ring-bearer, the couple was advised against it due to temperament concerns. Staff at Heythrop Zoological Garden recommended a penguin for the wedding in Bridgenorth, Shropshire. The couple spent just over £1,000 (approximately Rs 1 lakh) to hire the penguin, covering transportation and the animal handler’s fee.
The Viral Post of the Penguin Ring-Bearer
In his Instagram post, Alex shared some highlights from the wedding, which social media users believe have “truly raised the bar” for creativity and uniqueness in weddings. He captioned it with:
“We’ve got a penguin as a ring bearer. A real penguin? That waddles and eats fish and stuff. Yup. A Penguin. It should be fun and no one knows – it’s a secret!’ So, yeah, a completely new one for me after 7 years in the business – I’ve had an owl, and several dogs bring the rings to the couple, but never a penguin. And it was brilliant. Widget and Pringle were just the best thing ever for Jen and Tom. More penguins at weddings please”.
