As the U.S. Department of Justice continues publishing millions of pages of records tied to Jeffrey Epstein, one of the most sensational revelations concerns Karyna Shuliak, a dentist from Belarus who was Epstein’s last known girlfriend and named as a major beneficiary in his final will, signed just two days before his death in 2019.

The documents lay out Epstein’s intentions to bestow tens of millions of dollars, luxury properties, and other high-value assets on her, a move that has reignited interest in both his personal life and the handling of his estate.

What the Epstein Will Revealed About Shuliak

According to court documents included in the latest DOJ release, Epstein’s will — executed on August 8, 2019 — named Karyna Shuliak as one of the primary beneficiaries, leaving her a substantial portion of his estate and prized real estate holdings.

Key elements initially earmarked for Shuliak included:

  • About $50 million in cash.
  • A 33-carat diamond ring described in the will as given “in contemplation of marriage.”
  • Several major properties, including his Little Saint James and Great Saint James private islands in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • A Palm Beach residence, a Manhattan townhouse, a Paris apartment, and the Zorro Ranch in New Mexico.

Shuliak’s inheritance share was notable because it placed her ahead of other individuals in the will — including close aides, legal advisors, and even associates historically linked to Epstein’s financial and social networks.

Epstein and His Girlfriend: Who Is Karyna Shuliak?

Originally from Minsk, Belarus, Karyna Shuliak moved to the United States in 2009 to study dentistry, ultimately earning her dental degree and license, according to public records and reporting.

She largely remained out of the spotlight until her association with Epstein became public in connection with DOJ file disclosures. Documents indicate she and Epstein had a long-term personal relationship — reportedly spanning up to a decade — and that she was one of the last individuals to speak with him by phone before his detention in August 2019.

Despite her role in Epstein’s personal life, there is no public evidence that Shuliak has been accused of wrongdoing related to Epstein’s criminal activities. Law enforcement records and civil proceedings have focused on Epstein’s estate and victim compensation, not on Shuliak’s conduct.

What Happens to the Estate Now

Epstein’s estate — long tied up in litigation, debts, and claims by victims — has been managed through a trust (often referred to as the 1953 Trust) established around the time of his death. The trust’s purpose has been to settle claims, pay legal fees, and administer remaining assets.

Legal experts and estate documents make clear that named beneficiaries like Shuliak will not receive distributions until all creditor claims and victim compensation obligations are satisfied, which has significantly reduced the available estate after years of payouts.

That process has meant that, even though Shuliak was originally slated for a major inheritance, the actual amount she might receive — if any — remains uncertain and subject to ongoing court supervision.

Why Shuliak’s Inclusion in the Epstein Will Matters

Shuliak’s prominent place in Epstein’s will has drawn attention for several reasons:

  • She was reportedly the last person Epstein spoke to by phone before his death, an unusual detail given the strict controls around inmates’ communications.
  • The scale and scope of the assets he planned to leave her — including properties associated with his most controversial holdings — raised questions about the personal and financial dynamics at play.
  • As journalists and researchers sift through the Epstein file release, Shuliak’s story highlights how much of his personal affairs remained private until now.
