“Gretchen, stop trying to make fetch happen! It’s not going to happen!” But this Mean Girls reunion sure is! Well, sort of. If you read the phrase “Mean Girls reunion” and you were expecting a new movie with the same actresses, that is not happening. This is a new Walmart Black Friday ad, that features all of the original cast in one place! The movie remake is happening, but that is a story for another time. For now, Walmart released a Black Friday ad that reunites three of the four stars from the movie “Mean Girls.” Amanda Seyfried, Lindsay Lohan, and Lacey Chabert, who appeared in the 2004 film, reprise their iconic high school characters in the ad.
Mean Girls Reunion in the New Walmart Black Friday Ad
Walmart aims to generate interest in its Black Friday deals by launching an early advertising campaign for the holiday shopping event. The retailer plans to release a series of commercials featuring the cast of the 2004 movie “Mean Girls”. The actors will be portraying their iconic characters as adults, to highlight new offers and competitive prices.
Walmart’s advertising campaign featuring the cast of “Mean Girls” will kick off on Wednesdays. And if you are a fan of the “Plastics”, this is the day when they wear pink. New commercials and social media posts will be released every subsequent Wednesday throughout the month. Each week, a different cast member will appear in these ads. Walmart’s goal is to encourage customers to start their holiday shopping early by offering excellent deals and prices in advance of Black Friday (November 24) and Cyber Monday (November 27).
Not the Mean Girls Reunion People Hoped for
While this Walmart ad is all nice and dandy, and people are more than excited to see their favorite characters on screen again, this is not the Mean Girls reunion that people thought of when they first heard of it. Instead, fans were hoping to see the original cast in another adaptation of “Mean Girls”. However, that was not what was being offered to them. Although exciting to see the girls girling again, people were a bit taken aback that a new movie was not underway.
Can a “True” Mean Girls Reunion Ever Happen?
A “true” reunion of the cast and crew of “Mean Girls” is possible but depends on several factors, including the willingness and availability of the original cast members and the interest of the filmmakers and studio. The idea of a reunion could involve various formats, such as a sequel, a special event, or a documentary.
The primary challenge may be coordinating the schedules of the original cast members, as many of them have gone on to have successful careers in the entertainment industry. Some of the actors may be open to the idea of reuniting for a project, while others may not be interested or available.
