Emma Watson, best known for playing Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, has been banned from driving for six months.

Speeding in Audi S3 Triggers Ban

The 34-year-old actress was caught speeding in Oxford last July. A speed camera recorded her driving 38mph in a 30mph zone in her £30,000 Audi S3.

Watson already had nine points on her licence. Under UK law, drivers who collect 12 or more points within three years can face a ban. This left her ineligible for a Speed Awareness Course, which is sometimes offered to first-time offenders.

She did not appear in person at the short hearing held on 16 July at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court. Watson was ordered to pay £1,044 in fines and court costs.

This is not her first driving-related issue. In February last year, her car was towed in Stratford-upon-Avon after it blocked a driveway. The vehicle, again her blue Audi, was impounded. She later joked about the incident on social media.

Coincidentally, another Harry Potter actress was also banned from driving on the same day. Zoe Wanamaker, who played Madam Hooch, was caught speeding at 46mph in a 40mph zone. The 76-year-old also had nine points on her licence and received the same six-month ban and £1,044 fine. She did not attend the hearing either.
