The Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne marriage is a legendary tale of love, resilience, and rock ‘n’ roll chaos. From their first meeting in 1970 to decades of highs and lows, their bond survived addiction, health struggles, and fame. Ozzy often credited Sharon for saving his life and career through her unwavering support.
Early Days and Rise of Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne’s Marriage
Ozzy Osbourne met Sharon in 1970 when her father, Don Arden, managed Black Sabbath. He was immediately drawn to her laugh, beauty, and confidence. In his memoir I Am Ozzy, he said he began falling in love with her from a distance.
In 1979, Don Arden fired Ozzy for drug abuse. Sharon stepped in as his manager and started a relationship with him. She helped launch his solo career with the 1980 album Blizzard of Ozz.
They married on July 4, 1982, and had three children: Aimee, Kelly, and Jack. Ozzy also had three children from his first marriage: Jessica, Louis, and Elliot.
The early years were volatile due to substance abuse. Sharon told The Guardian, “Our fights were legendary.” Ozzy sometimes left the stage mid-song to argue with her, but always returned to finish the show. Eventually, Sharon stopped drinking, realizing they might end up “washed-up drunks in a hovel” if they didn’t change. Despite the chaos, they stayed together.
Their partnership grew stronger. In 1996, Sharon launched the OzzFest metal festival, which became a global success. In 2002, their family starred in MTV’s The Osbournes, showing Ozzy’s flawed but loving side to millions.
Health Battles and Last Years in Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne’s Marriage

Sharon remained Ozzy’s rock through many health challenges, including:
- A 2003 quad-bike accident
- Multiple surgeries for neck and back injuries
- A 2019 Parkinson’s diagnosis Ozzy called “terribly challenging.”
- Blood clots and ongoing physical therapy
Ozzy also supported Sharon during her 2002 colon cancer battle. She underwent surgery and chemotherapy. He later wrote, “It’s not enough to say I love Sharon. I owe my life to Sharon.”
In 2022, they celebrated 40 years of marriage. Ozzy shared a wedding photo with the caption, “Happy Anniversary, My Love.” Sharon posted, “52 years as friends, lovers, husband & wife, grandparents, and soulmates.”
In July 2025, Sharon helped organize Ozzy’s farewell concert in Birmingham, where their story began. Ozzy performed seated on a black throne, with Sharon proudly watching. That night became his final performance.
Weeks later, on July 22, 2025, Ozzy Osbourne passed away at 76, surrounded by family and Sharon’s loving presence.
The Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne marriage stands as one of rock’s most enduring love stories—surviving madness, addiction, and illness with unmatched devotion.
