The legend of Okiku began when she was purchased in Japan around 1918 as a gift for a young girl who tragically passed away from the flu after a year. The family noticed that the doll’s short bobbed hair grew past its shoulders while displayed in a shrine dedicated to her memory.

In 1938, the family entrusted Okiku to Mennenji Temple in Hokkaido, where caretakers still maintain her, marveling at her continuously growing hair.

2. Joliet

According to legend, a cursed doll named Joliet was given as a gift to a young woman by a jealous family friend during her pregnancy. Tragically, her baby boy died just three days after birth, and soon after, the family began hearing cries of a baby coming from the doll.

Passed down through four generations, the doll remains within the family, limiting external investigation. Each owner reportedly has had one healthy boy and one healthy girl, with the boy mysteriously dying on the third day. The family claims that Joliet continues to cry with the voices of multiple baby spirits.
