How long did it take for Kim Kardashian’s law school graduation to become a reality?

Kim Kardashian just celebrated a major milestone in her quest to become a lawyer.

Let’s dive into how she achieved this and what it means for her future.

Why Kim Kardashian’s Law School Graduation Is Non-Traditional?

Kim Kardashian didn’t follow the usual route to becoming a lawyer.

Instead of attending a traditional law school, she chose California’s Law Office Study Program (LOSP), a unique option that allows people to study law under a licensed attorney or judge.

This program, often called “reading the law,” requires intense dedication. Kim started this journey in 2018, working with a San Francisco law firm to learn the ins and outs of the legal system.

Over six years, she committed 18 hours a week, totaling over 5,000 hours of study, all while managing her businesses and family life.

Her mentors praised her determination, noting that she took no shortcuts, diving deep into case law and legal texts despite her busy schedule.

The program wasn’t easy. It took Kim six years to complete what’s typically a four-year course, delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic and her demanding career.

She also faced setbacks, like failing the “baby bar” exam three times before passing it in 2021 on her fourth try.

This exam, officially called the First-Year Law Student’s Examination, is a tough hurdle for students in non-accredited programs.

Kim’s persistence paid off, and she shared her pride in overcoming these challenges, inspired by her late father, Robert Kardashian, a well-known attorney.

Celebrating a Milestone

On May 21, 2025, Kim marked her graduation from the LOSP with a small backyard ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Surrounded by family, including her children Chicago, Saint, and Psalm, and her sisters Khloé and Kourtney, she donned a beige graduation cap and a chic grey outfit.

Her mentors, including attorney Jessica Jackson, spoke at the event, calling Kim’s journey “one of the most inspiring legal journeys” they’d ever seen.

Khloé shared her pride on Instagram, saying the achievement was “years in the making.”

The celebration included personal touches, like placemats made from Kim’s study flashcards, showing how much effort she put into her studies.

Kim’s kids added a special touch to the day. Chicago wore a pinstriped suit inspired by her mom, while Psalm dressed in a beige suit, channeling his grandfather Robert Kardashian.

These outfits were a sweet nod to Kim’s motivation to honor her father’s legacy. Friends like Van Jones and even Ivanka Trump joined in, congratulating her on social media.

However, not everyone was supportive—some online comments poked fun at the six years it took to complete the program, though fans defended her hard work.

What’s Next for Kim

Kim’s graduation doesn’t mean she’s a lawyer yet—she still needs to pass the California Bar Exam to practice law.

She reportedly took the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE) in March 2025, a key step toward the bar.

Her focus on criminal justice reform drives her, as she’s already made a difference by advocating for people like Alice Marie Johnson, who was granted clemency after Kim’s efforts.

She dreams of starting her own law firm and continuing her father’s work in criminal justice.

Kim’s story shows that anyone can chase their dreams with enough grit. She’s juggled fame, family, and intense studies, proving that setbacks are just part of the journey.

As she prepares for the bar exam, her supporters are cheering her on, eager to see her take on the legal world.
