The historic Mandalay Palace suffered severe damage, with its iconic clock tower collapsing, and major roads developed significant cracks, hindering relief operations.

In Bangkok, approximately 800 miles from the epicenter, the tremors led to the collapse of a 30-story building under construction, killing at least three workers and leaving 90 others missing under the rubble.

Dramatic footage captured rooftop pools overflowing and people fleeing as buildings swayed. The Thai Prime Minister declared Bangkok an emergency zone and advised residents to evacuate tall structures. Airports suspended operations to assess potential damage.

The earthquake’s tremors were felt as far as China’s Yunnan province, where authorities reported no casualties but remained on high alert.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concern over the situation, stating that India stands ready to offer all possible assistance and has placed authorities on standby to aid Myanmar and Thailand. ​
