We grew up with them, and we wanted to help them beat the Demagorgon in “Stranger Things.” However, just as we are able to move on with our lives after the show ends a new season, Millie Boby Brown is ready to leave “Stranger Things” entirely as well. While the young actress has shown her gratitude towards the experience and exposure the show gave her, she announced that she is ready to move on to greater projects.

Why Millie Bobby Brown Is Ready to Leave “Stranger Things”

Millie Bobby Brown is eager to move on from “Stranger Things,” comparing it to graduating high school and expressing a readiness to embrace new opportunities. One of her upcoming projects is “The Electric State,” a post-apocalyptic film co-starring Chris Pratt, which she finds exciting.

In an interview, she also discussed the backlash she faced as a 13-year-old during “Stranger Things” press tours, where she was criticized for speaking up in interviews and faced derogatory remarks from adults.

The actress further clarified: “When you’re ready, you’re like, ‘All right, let’s do this. Let’s tackle this last senior year. Let’s get out of here. ’Stranger Things’ takes up a lot of time to film and it’s preventing me from creating stories that I’m passionate about. So I’m ready to say, ‘Thank you, and goodbye.’”

The Backlash Aftermath

During an interview, Millie Bobby Brown shared her experiences of facing backlash as a 13-year-old during “Stranger Things” press tours. She was criticized for talking over her co-stars in interviews and attempting to outshine them, with adults calling her names like “idiot,” “stupid,” and “brat.” This negativity deeply affected her, making her want to remain silent and only speak when spoken to in interviews. Her own experience has led her to be more protective of underage actors in the industry, emphasizing the importance of not subjecting young talents to harsh criticism and mental stunting that can affect their growth.
