Elon Musk is done playing politics as usual, and now, he’s taking direct aim at Donald Trump.

In a fiery takedown of the Trump-backed legislation, Musk slams Trump tax plan as “DEBT SLAVERY” and threatens to unseat Republicans who support it.

In a scathing series of posts on X, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO didn’t hold back. He called Trump’s massive new tax-and-spending bill the “biggest debt ceiling increase in history”, and promised political revenge.

Musk wrote:

“Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame,”

“And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.”

Musk’s Support Turns to Fury

The reversal is sharp. Musk reportedly spent around $290 million backing Trump and other Republicans during the 2024 election cycle. But now, he’s not just withdrawing support, he’s going on the attack.

“It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill, which increases the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS, that we live in a one-party country: the PORKY PIG PARTY!!”

“Time for a new political party that cares about the people.”

With these comments, Musk slams Trump tax plan as not only fiscally irresponsible but politically corrupt.

Musk even name-dropped GOP lawmakers, including Rep. Andy Harris of Maryland and Rep. Chip Roy of Texas, both members of the hardline Freedom Caucus.

“How can you call yourself the Freedom Caucus if you vote for a DEBT SLAVERY bill with the biggest debt ceiling increase in history?”

Though Harris voted “present” in the House, Musk seemed unimpressed. Harris claimed the move was procedural to advance the bill, but Musk’s message was clear: No one gets a pass.

Why This Hits Harder in the House

Musk’s threat carries real weight, especially in the House, where every seat is up for grabs every two years. Primary races can be dramatically affected by outside spending, and few have the financial firepower Musk brings to the table.

This goes beyond ideology. The Trump tax plan Musk opposes would repeal clean energy credits, hurting businesses like Tesla and SolarCity, while promoting tax incentives for coal. Musk’s criticism blends personal conviction, business interests, and political disruption.

Whether Musk creates a third party or simply funds insurgent candidates remains to be seen. But what’s certain is this:
Musk slams Trump’s tax plan, and he’s no longer a behind-the-scenes donor. He’s a megaphone-wielding disruptor, armed with money, influence, and a list.
