Author Andrew Lownie’s latest biography, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, initially included a sensational assertion: that Jeffrey Epstein was responsible for introducing Melania Trump to Donald Trump. This detail appeared in the first 60,000 published copies.
However, after legal pressure linked to the claim—particularly surrounding Hunter Biden’s recent reiteration—the publisher has decided to remove the passage in all future editions, including print, digital, and audiobook versions.
Legal Firestorm Ignites Change
The claim wasn’t just provocative—it prompted legal action. Melania Trump’s attorneys, led by Alejandro Brito, sent a forceful letter to Hunter Biden demanding a retraction and apology for repeating the allegations, labeling them “false, disparaging, defamatory, and inflammatory.” If not complied with, they threatened a staggering $1 billion lawsuit.
Shortly after, not only did media outlets retract similar claims, but Lownie and HarperCollins UK opted to excise the content from the biography. In a rare move, the publisher confirmed the edits were made in direct response to the legal scrutiny.
What the Trumps Have Said
Both Melania and Donald Trump have consistently denied Epstein’s role in their meeting. In her personal memoir and public interviews, Melania recounts meeting Donald at a 1998 New York Fashion Week event, introduced by modeling agent Paolo Zampolli—a version backed up by both individuals. President Trump also publicly affirmed that he encouraged his wife to pursue legal action, even saying, “I let her use my lawyers,” to reinforce how seriously they took the allegation.
Hunter Biden, however, has shown no remorse. In follow-up appearances, he dismissed the lawsuit threat as a “distraction,” refusing to retract his claim and instead challenging the Trumps to depositions to clarify their connections to Epstein.
From Royal Revelations to Real-World Pressure
Lownie’s biography dives into Prince Andrew’s controversial ties with Epstein, highlighting allegations of misconduct, financial privilege, and societal ensnarement. It serves as a broader exposé on entitlement and royal reputation.

Yet, the Epstein–Melania–Trump angle drew immediate attention—proving how quickly a single claim can overshadow an entire narrative, and how swiftly legal fences are raised when reputations are at stake.
This episode underscores how sensitive topics linked to Epstein continue to ripple across unrelated domains, from royal biographies to political legal wars, demonstrating how connections to his legacy remain toxic and legally charged.
