Reese Witherspoon Divorces Jim Toth

After four months of announcing her split from now-ex-husband Jim Toth, Reese Witherspoon has finalized her divorce in Tennessee.

The movie star told Harper’s Bazaar that she feels at ease for being able to announce her divorce by herself. She clarified: “Of course, there’s speculation, but I can’t control that. All I can do is be my most honest, forthright self and be vulnerable. It’s a vulnerable time for me.”

The announcement of their divorce was made public around 5 days before the couple would have celebrated their 12th year anniversary.

The Divorce Settlement

The divorce papers clarify that both parties agreed to joint custody and have settled for no child support payments. The documents state: “Each parent is contributing equally to the payment of all expenses for the minor child, including childcare expenses, private school expenses, extracurricular expenses, and travel expenses. Further, each party has significant separate assets and more than sufficient means to independently care for the minor child while in his or her care.”

The couple agreed to continue a loving and caring relationship with their children and that they will behave around them. Their main focus is to not talk badly of one another, as well as encourage each child to love both parents equally.

Reese and Jim, after almost 12 years of marriage, have divided their possessions such as household items and appliances. They have also agreed to retain their personal belongings like jewelry, clothing, vehicles, airline miles, and credit card points.

On March 24, the couple publicly announced their separation, stating that they have chosen to divorce with careful consideration. Despite the decision, they emphasized their deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for the years they’ve spent together and what they’ve built. Their main focus remains on their son and family, as they enter this new phase. Acknowledging the sensitive and private nature of such matters, they requested respect for their family’s privacy during this challenging time.
