Rising Star GloRilla Arrested in Georgia After Home Invasion

On July 20, police responded to an armed burglary in progress at GloRilla’s Atlanta-area home.

The rapper was out of state performing at the WNBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis. Authorities say three intruders were inside when someone at the residence fired upon them. No one was hurt, and the burglars fled before help arrived.

Drugs Discovered During Investigation

While surveying the scene, deputies detected a strong scent of narcotics inside the house. Following a search warrant, they found a significant amount of marijuana and a schedule I controlled substance in the master bedroom closet. Based on that discovery, GloRilla was charged with felony possession of marijuana and a controlled substance.

She Turns Herself In

Two days after the break-in, GloRilla voluntarily surrendered to Forsyth County authorities and was jailed. She was later released on a $22,260 bond. This marks her second legal encounter in Georgia—last year, she was arrested for DUI following a traffic stop.

Her Reaction: “I’m the Victim”

On social media, GloRilla was clearly frustrated. “Long story short my house gets invaded… and I’m the only one that gets arrested,” she wrote. She noted she wasn’t on-site during the break-in and criticized law enforcement for focusing on marijuana rather than catching the intruders. Her team echoed that sentiment—calling her arrest a disturbing display of misplaced priorities, claiming her family was traumatized while the real thieves remain at large.

Legal Pushback and Protest

GloRilla’s attorneys, Drew Findling and Marissa Goldberg, issued a strong statement. They argued that police failed to issue arrest warrants for the burglars and instead prioritized prosecuting their client. “Ms. Woods is a victim, not a suspect,” they said. They framed the arrest as a troubling example of law enforcement ignoring serious violent crime while targeting a high-profile Black woman whose family members were in the home at the time.

Continued Rise Amid Controversy

Despite the arrest, GloRilla remains musically active. She dropped two singles in June, has tour dates scheduled, and headlines her hometown concert—Glo Bash—in Memphis on July 25. Her debut studio album, Glorious, and recent Glorious Tour helped establish her as one of rap’s fast-rising talents.

The burglary investigation is ongoing, and authorities have yet to identify the suspects. Meanwhile, GloRilla faces the drug possession charges, which under Georgia law are felonies. She could face up to a decade in prison if convicted. Legal experts say her case may test public perception and criminal justice priorities in high-profile cases.
