Talk about making your wedding day special! This couple has definitely decided to take it up a notch. One photographer from Kansas has shared the special gift the couple decided to hand out to their wedding guests.

The couple gave out tattoos to their guests as wedding gifts and the video quickly went viral. Unconventional, yet creative, the video made people surprisingly have divided opinions on the matter.

The Viral TikTok Video

A TikTok video posted by a wedding photographer in Kansas has taken the internet by storm, featuring a tattoo artist giving permanent tattoos to guests. The video, posted on August 11, captured viewers’ attention with an on-screen caption that proclaimed, “Your sign to have a tattoo artist at your wedding.” The montage showcased multiple guests taking turns to receive permanent artwork during the event. This also included a close-up of what appeared to be a buffalo outline tattoo.

This unconventional wedding favor idea quickly went viral, collecting over 5.7 million views and 1,600 comments. Some viewers were enthusiastic about the concept, expressing that they would also like to be part of such an experience. One comment even jokingly stated, “The number of random tattoos I would leave with. Omg!“.

Why Some Did Not Like the Idea

However, not everyone was convinced. Some commenters raised practical concerns, wondering about the logistics, costs, and potential issues with drunk guests getting tattoos on a whim. One comment also gave a different perspective as they pondered how stressful it would be for the tattoo artist to set up, stencil, tattoo, and sanitize repeatedly during the event.

In response to these queries, the photographer clarified that the tattoo artist had charged a fixed price of $60 for each guest and that the tattoos were given during the cocktail hour when guests were not drunk yet.

Tattoos as Wedding Gifts

Interestingly, having tattoo artists at weddings is not an entirely new and novel concept. In 2018, The New York Times reported on a wedding reception in Brooklyn where two guests in their 50s received their first tattoos at their niece’s wedding, thanks to a tattoo artist booked by the couple. Similarly, in 2022, a couple in Lithuania made headlines by tattooing each other during a non-traditional wedding ceremony. They also tattooed their guests as wedding gifts.

This trend has also made its way to TikTok, with numerous users sharing videos of tattoo artists working on wedding guests. Some couples even opt to get joint tattoos on their big day, creating a unique and memorable experience that frequently goes viral, accumulating millions of views.

As we dive into the world of tattoos at weddings, we’re definitely left wondering: Would you say ‘I do!’ to a wedding tattoo? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
