On September 8, 2025, the decomposed body of a teenage girl was discovered inside the front trunk (“frunk”) of a Tesla registered to singer D4vd when the vehicle was impounded at a tow yard in Hollywood, near Mansfield Avenue and Romaine Street. A strong odor coming from the vehicle prompted the investigation.

The remains were wrapped in a bag. Officials say the car had been abandoned on a public street in the Hollywood Hills and had been sitting for some time before being towed.

Identification & Missing Person Tie

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified the deceased as Celeste Rivas, age 15, who was reported missing from Lake Elsinore, California. She was last seen on April 5, 2024.

Celeste was described as having wavy black hair, 5′2″ in height, and weighing about 71 pounds. When found, she was wearing a tube top, black leggings, metal stud earrings, a yellow metal bracelet, and had a tattoo on her right index finger reading “Shhh…” — a detail family recognized. Authorities say they believe the body had been in the vehicle for approximately five days prior to its impounding.

Investigation Status

At this point, the Los Angeles Police Department is treating the discovery as a death investigation. The exact cause and manner of Celeste Rivas’s death have not yet been determined; medical examiners have deferred the cause of death pending further testing.

No suspect has been publicly named or arrested yet. The registered owner of the Tesla, the singer D4vd (David Anthony Burke), is reported to be cooperating with the investigation. However, it is not yet clear whether authorities believe he played any part in the disappearance or death.

Details & Community Response

After the body was identified, LAPD investigators searched a home in Hollywood (on Doheny Place), collecting a computer and other items as potential evidence. Neighbors reported seeing the distinct Tesla parked in different spots on the street for some time. Those who knew Celeste described her as “bubbly and sweet.”

Celeste had reportedly run away several times before her final disappearance in 2024, but had returned. Her last known disappearance was in May 2024, after which she was not heard from.

Why It’s Significant

  • The connection between the missing person case and the body discovery provides the first confirmation that Celeste Rivas had died.
  • Because the remains were found in a vehicle registered to a public figure, there is increased public attention. However, authorities emphasize that the investigation remains ongoing and that no evidence currently implicates the singer in wrongdoing.
  • Details like the “Shhh” tattoo and clothing help with identification and public record, and may assist in corroborating missing-persons reports.
  • The case raises questions about how missing teenager cases are handled, how abandoned vehicles are monitored, and how forensic work proceeds in cross-jurisdiction investigations.
