We are well aware that technology is advancing at a rapid pace nowadays. But, what would you do if you fell in love with an AI-generated hologram?

For one woman, this seemingly far-fetched scenario is becoming a reality as she prepares to marry the world’s first AI-generated hologram. As artificial intelligence progresses, the lines between humans and machines become increasingly blurred. And for some people, this has opened up new possibilities for love and companionship. Now, this woman is set to become the first person to marry an AI hologram.

This Woman Will Marry an AI Hologram

Spain-based performing artist Alicia Framis is preparing to marry an AI-generated hologram, blurring the lines between fiction and reality. Her prospective spouse is a digital entity crafted through holographic technology and machine learning. This marks a significant leap into the realm of sci-fi dystopian concepts.

Alicia Framis is ready to make history as the first woman to marry an AI-generated digital entity. This could potentially shape the future of relationships and marriages. Far from being a mere concept, she has already booked a wedding venue and is actively designing her wedding dress.

This Is Not Her First Rodeo Ride

Alicia Framis has a history of using her performance art to delve into themes of companionship. Prior to her upcoming AI-generated hologram marriage, she lived with a mannequin named Pierre. Moreover, this is how she explored the concept of love and companionship.

Additionally, her latest project takes a futuristic turn. She often shares updates about her relationship on her Instagram page @hybridcouple, describing it as a romantic connection between herself and artificial intelligence.

Alicia Framis sees emotionally involving artificial intelligence with humans as a significant step. She acknowledges that while hologram technology exists, it is currently costly and impractical. While we are not quite at the futuristic depiction seen in sci-fi movies like Blade Runner 2049, the concept is not entirely out of reach.

Additionally, in her Instagram videos, it appears that the hologram featured is more likely a collaborating artist or actor rather than a computer-generated entity like AiLex.

How Is the AI Hologram Possible?

The exact role of AI in the performance piece remains unclear, with speculation that the hologram’s responses could be AI-generated. The series is planned to include wedding ceremonies. They are initially scheduled at the Depot Boijmans Museum in Rotterdam but potentially touring other venues. Moreover, Alicia Framis hinted at this possibility by showcasing a brass nameplate engraved with both her name and AiLex’s on Instagram.

Framis isn’t the first artist to explore marriage as a central theme in performance art. However, her project adds a futuristic twist with the potential involvement of AI.
