Tony, from Newcastle, England, received the life-changing call while he was in his truck. Upon hearing the news, he promptly informed his employer that he wouldn’t be coming in for his next shift, marking the end of his 42-year career as a truck driver. Hedley’s manager congratulated him upon his return to the base, acknowledging his luck and wishing him well.

After 42 years as a truck driver in England, Tom Hedley, aged 68, worked his final shift upon discovering that he and his wife Christine, also 68, both held winning lottery tickets worth approximately $210,000 each from the People’s Postcode Lottery in the U.K. Their windfall led Tom to promptly resign from his job. Hedley had told “The Independent”: “I’ve been working all my life, and I think it’s time I had a break. When they revealed the envelope, it was just surreal.”
