President Donald Trump is facing criticism online after a video appeared to show him cheating on the golf course.
Trump Slammed for Allegedly Cheating at Golf Again
In the clip, filmed at his Turnberry resort in Scotland, a caddy is seen dropping a ball on the ground just before Trump arrives in his golf cart. The move raised eyebrows.
The video quickly went viral. The term “Commander in Cheat” trended on social media.
“Trump’s golf game is as dishonest as his politics,” one user wrote on Twitter. Another said, “If that’s not a metaphor, I don’t know what is.”
Trump, who owns multiple golf resorts, is no stranger to this kind of accusation. Author Rick Reilly even wrote a book titled Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump. In it, he claims caddies at one club called Trump “Pele” for often kicking his ball back into play.
Trump has denied all allegations of cheating.
Critics also slammed him for golfing while Americans face rising grocery costs. Trump played two rounds during his four-day Scotland trip, which the White House calls a “working visit.”
While in Scotland, Trump also met with EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The two agreed on a new US-EU trade deal.
He is expected to meet UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and First Minister John Swinney today (Monday, July 28). The meeting will reportedly take place, once again, on the golf course.
