TrumpRx Platform Offers Discounts on Brand-Name Medications

The Trump administration has officially launched TrumpRx.gov, a new federal website designed to help Americans find discounted prescription drug prices amid persistent concerns about high healthcare costs. Unveiled at a White House event on February 5, 2026, the platform aims to connect consumers with manufacturer-negotiated pricing on dozens of brand-name medications, from diabetes and cholesterol therapies to popular weight-loss and fertility drugs.
The initiative is part of the administration’s broader effort to address drug affordability, though experts say its benefits will be most pronounced for people paying cash rather than using insurance.
What TrumpRx Is — And Isn’t
TrumpRx is a government-hosted website that offers a searchable list of medications at discounted cash prices negotiated with drug manufacturers. However, it does not directly sell prescriptions or serve as a pharmacy. Instead, when users find a drug they need, the site either:
- Redirects them to manufacturer or partner sites where they can purchase the medicine directly, or
- Provides printable coupons that can be presented at participating pharmacies to receive reduced-price drug purchases.
The platform launched with about 43 medications from five major companies — AstraZeneca, Eli Lilly, EMD Serono, Novo Nordisk, and Pfizer — with discounts expected to expand to more drugs from 16 manufacturers that have agreements with the administration.
What Discounts Are Available
TrumpRx includes price cuts on a range of brand-name drugs, though the amount of savings varies based on the medication and how it’s purchased:
- Weight-loss and diabetes drugs: Popular GLP-1 meds like Ozempic and Wegovy may be available for around $149–$350 per month — significantly lower than typical list prices but still generally for cash payers.
- Autoimmune and chronic disease treatments: Drugs such as Pfizer’s Xeljanz and Merck’s Januvia have discounts ranging from roughly 33% up to more than 90% on some fertility medicines.
- Fertility and specialty medications: Fertility drugs like Cetrotide are offered at deep discounts (up to 93%), based on negotiated agreements with manufacturers.
It’s important to note that discounts generally apply to out-of-pocket prices, meaning they won’t necessarily count toward insurance deductibles, and many insured patients may already pay less through their own plans than the TrumpRx cash price.
Who Stands to Benefit Most from TrumpRx
Cash-paying consumers — especially the uninsured and individuals with high deductibles — are poised to benefit most. Experts point out that:
- For those without insurance, the ability to compare prices and use coupons may reduce the cost of expensive brand-name drugs.
- For people with insurance coverage, in many cases, co-pays or negotiated prices through insurers can be lower than those offered by TrumpRx.
Health policy analysts also note that TrumpRx doesn’t alter the underlying system of how drug prices are set in the U.S., and some critics argue it could benefit manufacturers by bypassing insurers without forcing deeper price reforms.
Political Context and Reaction
The launch of TrumpRx comes as health care costs remain a top concern for American voters, particularly ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. President Trump and administration officials have framed the initiative as part of their mandate to lower the cost of living, with Trump saying users will “save a fortune” by using the site.

Administration officials also tied the launch to “most-favored nation” pricing agreements with pharmaceutical companies — meaning the U.S. would not pay more than the lowest price charged in other wealthy nations for the same drugs.
Some Democrats and health policy experts have praised efforts to lower drug prices generally but raised concerns about the limited scope of TrumpRx and questioned whether it will meaningfully lower costs for the broadest swath of Americans.
