UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer had an awkward moment during talks with US President Donald Trump in Scotland.

While praising both Starmer and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, Trump attacked London’s Mayor, Sadiq Khan.
“I like this man [Starmer] a lot, and I like Nigel,” Trump said. “I don’t know the politics here, but they’re both good men.”
However, he added, “I’m not a fan of your mayor. I think he’s done a terrible job… a nasty person.”
Starmer, caught off guard, smiled nervously and interrupted: “He’s a friend of mine, actually.”
Trump stood by his opinion. “I think he’s done a terrible job. But I would certainly visit London.”
Trump is in Scotland for talks with Starmer on topics like tariffs, Gaza, and the Ukraine war. He will not address the UK Parliament during this visit, despite criticism from Farage.
Responding to Trump’s comments, a spokesperson for Khan said the mayor welcomes the president to “the greatest city in the world,” adding that London’s diversity is its strength.
They also noted a record number of Americans have applied for British citizenship during Trump’s presidency.
