Who Is Amanda Bynes?

Amanda Bynes became famous after her debut on Nickelodeon’s All That in 1996. She described it as a dream come true and an unbelievable experience in an interview with Paper magazine in 2018. Following her time on All That, Amanda Bynes starred in her own show on Nickelodeon called The Amanda Show. Her popularity soared as she showcased memorable skits like “Judge Trudy,” featuring the iconic dancing lobsters, “The Girls’ Room,” and “Moody’s Point.”

After leaving Nickelodeon, Amanda Bynes starred in the TV series What I Like About You from 2002 to 2006. She then transitioned to starring roles in films such as She’s the Man, Sydney White, and the beloved Hairspray, which she described as “the most amazing experience I’ve ever had on a set” in an interview with Paper magazine.

What Happened to Amanda Bynes?

Following the premiere of Easy A in 2010, Amanda Bynes announced her retirement from acting via Twitter. She expressed that being an actress wasn’t as enjoyable as it seemed and declared her retirement at the age of 24. In her interview with Paper magazine, Amanda Bynes reflected on her decision to retire from acting, admitting that it was foolish and a result of her youth and naivety.

In 2012, Amanda Bynes encountered legal issues, and in 2013, she was hospitalized following an incident in California. She was discharged from rehab in December of that year.

During this time, she also made headlines with concerning tweets. Reflecting on her past actions, she expressed remorse in her Paper interview, acknowledging the harm caused to others and the damage to her career, attributing it to her own actions rather than blaming Twitter.

What Happened to Her Next?

In June 2019, Amanda Bynes graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. Earlier that year, in January, it was confirmed she was seeking treatment again. She returned to Instagram and announced her engagement to Paul Michael in February 2020. Despite a brief split in March, they reconciled in May 2020. Paul’s Instagram posts in January 2021 suggest that their relationship is still going strong.

Where Is Amanda Bynes Now?

In February 2022, Amanda Bynes filed to terminate her conservatorship, which had lasted nearly nine years, over both her person and her estate. She also submitted a capacity declaration to the Ventura County Superior Court, a requirement for all conservatorship cases, providing updated health records regarding her mental state.

Court documents obtained by Us magazine revealed that according to Amanda Bynes’ psychiatrist, she exhibits no apparent impairment in alertness, attention, information processing, ability to modulate mood and affect, or thought disorders.

According to the filing, Amanda Bynes desires to live without constraints after transitioning from a structured community for women in 2021 to an independent living environment. Additionally, she has consistently tested negative for illicit substances, as stated in the documents.

Amanda Bynes’ conservatorship, which lasted for nine years, was terminated in March 2022.

The interest regarding where Amanda Bynes is now is definitely thanks to Drake Bell. “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” premiered on March 17, 2024, followed by a second episode titled “Breaking the Silence” on April 7, 2024. The documentary series delves into allegations of a toxic workplace environment by Dan Schneider.

It also features shocking claims from former Nickelodeon actor Drake Bell, who alleges he was sexually abused by dialogue coach Brian Peck between the production of the final season of The Amanda Show and the first season of Drake & Josh. Peck was arrested in 2003 on 11 counts of lewd conduct with a minor and later sentenced to 16 months in prison as a registered sex offender.
