Former MTV star Whitney Purvis is speaking out after being denied entry to the funeral of her 16-year-old son, Weston Gosa Jr., and now alleges her ex-partner, Weston Gosa Sr., deliberately misled her and blocked her from saying goodbye.
A Funeral Missed—or Taken Away from Whitney Purvis?
Whitney Purvis took to Facebook, claiming she was told the funeral would begin at 4 pm, but it actually started at 2 pm, and stated, “You had to be on a list to get into the funeral… Guess who wasn’t on the list?” According to her, both she and her family were denied entry despite her efforts.
Ex, Stepmom Tell Different Story
In response, Weston Sr. and stepmom Amy Gosa argue Purvis had been informed—a week earlier—of the proper schedule. They state the visitation ran from 2–4 pm, with the service starting right after, and say Whitney arrived around 4:15 pm, when the chapel doors had already closed. They also claim her parents and uncle were allowed inside.

Custody Battles & Medical Concerns
Purvis has a fraught history with her ex, including legal rulings that gave him full custody in 2018. She alleges he failed to provide proper medical insurance and equipment for her son—who lived with Type 1 diabetes, Addison’s disease, and Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency—and suggests these omissions may have contributed to his death. Weston Sr. counters that the young teen suffered from serious health issues and received emergency care when found unresponsive on June 2.
A Public Grief Turned Controversial
This heartbreaking event has devolved into a public dispute, with Whitney claiming she and family members begged to see Weston and were shut out:
“That is some evil s–t to do to someone… Why could we not just celebrate our love for Weston?” she wrote.

The backlash has split community sympathies, with supporters demanding answers about parental rights, grief, and accountability, especially under long-standing custody agreements.
