You Can Now Stay at the “Up” House Thanks to This Pixar Airbnb!

Have you ever dreamed of living in the iconic house from the movie “Up”? Well, now you can! Thanks to Airbnb, you can rent out a replica of the house featured in the beloved animated film. From the quirky décor to the stunning views, there is a lot to look forward to when staying in the Pixar Airbnb. But before you book your stay, there are a few things you should know.

The Pixar Airbnb

During a special event in Los Angeles on May 1, the company unveiled their new “Icons” slate, which features extraordinary experiences including pop culture moments brought to life. These experiences include nights hosted by celebrities like Kevin Hart and Doja Cat, as well as a stay in a re-creation of the Disney and Pixar film “Up” house, which will be suspended in the sky after guests depart.

In Abiquiu, New Mexico, there is a unique Airbnb where guests feel like they have walked into the movie itself. Airbnb constructed the house from scratch and meticulously painted it to match the exact Pantone colors featured in the film.

What Can You Expect?

At the event, Airbnb co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky explained that every room was uniquely designed to evoke the feeling of being inside with Carl and Ellie from the film. Guests can expect to discover Carl’s chairlift, the green helium tank, his and his late wife’s chairs, and even a dog bed for Dug or other furry guests.

They meticulously recreated the “Adventure Book” made by Ellie in the movie. Chesky emphasized that every detail in the house was carefully considered, adding that, like in the movie, the house ascends. Moreover, it is a 40,000-pound house adorned with 8,000 balloons, suspended 50 feet above ground. Chesky announced that bookings for the house on Airbnb are now open.

How Can You Book a Stay at the Pixar Airbnb?

Potential guests will need to submit a written entry explaining why they want to book the house when selecting dates on the Airbnb app. Chesky mentioned they anticipate receiving many requests and will select guests based on their submissions. Selected guests will be contacted a few days before their booking window.

Selected guests will receive a digital golden ticket, with over 4,000 tickets available in 2024. Booking windows and costs vary for each Icon experience, with most being free or priced under $100 per guest. New experiences will be introduced worldwide throughout the year.
