President Trump revealed on Tuesday that he received a letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, asking to “come to the negotiating table” once again. This comes after a major tiff at the White House, which ended with no mineral deal and no US-Ukraine joint fund in sight. Looks like these two are back at it!

President Trump Reveals He Got Letter from Zelensky

During his speech to Congress, President Trump shared that he received an important letter from Ukrainian President Zelensky, which stated, “Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. Nobody wants peace more than the Ukrainians.”

In his letter, Ukrainian President Zelensky reiterated that Kyiv is ready to sign the mineral deal with the US “at any time that is convenient.” President Trump expressed appreciation for the letter and mentioned receiving signals from Russia indicating they are also ready for peace.

What Does This Letter Imply for Future Zelensky-Trump Discussions?

The letter seemed like a positive shift in US-Ukraine relations following Friday’s fallout, which left Trump and Zelensky at odds and ended with no deal. This came after Trump paused US military aid to Ukraine on Monday.

Vice President JD Vance hinted earlier Tuesday at the Capitol that the Trump team was waiting for “private” communication from the Ukrainians to get the deal back on track.

The VP also mentioned that military aid could be resumed with the right communication from the Ukrainians.

What Did Zelensky Have to Say?

Earlier Tuesday, Zelensky addressed some of Trump’s concerns in an X post, stating that Ukraine is ready for peace. He expressed regret over the outcome of their meeting in Washington, emphasizing that it’s time to make things right and pursue constructive future cooperation.

Zelensky reiterated Ukraine’s readiness to negotiate for lasting peace, stating, “Nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians,” and offered to work under President Trump’s leadership to achieve it.

Is there hope for the Zelensky-Trump agreement any time soon? We shall wait and see!
