Zendaya has always shared her joy and honor for being the new female lead in Spider-Man alongside other strong female leads. However, recently, the girls went viral for something completely unrelated. A meme showcasing all the leading ladies of Spider-Man movies and then transitioning to Zendaya playing tennis stars went viral. Let’s take a look at Zendaya’s reaction to this hilarious comparison.

Zendaya Reacts to the Spider-Man Female Leads Meme

Zendaya, along with her co-stars Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist from the film “Challengers,” appeared on Good Morning America on April 23. During the show, co-anchor Robin Roberts pointed out a meme noting that every lead actress in live-action Spider-Man movies has later portrayed a tennis player in a film. This suggests that Zendaya is continuing a notable cinematic lineage by potentially taking on a role as a tennis player on the big screen.

Zendaya reacted to the meme by saying, “I have seen this,” and jokingly suggested that perhaps it’s a prophecy she needs to fulfill. She found it amusing and noted that it worked out for the previous actresses who followed this pattern.

Zendaya Continues Legacy of Spider-Man Female Leads

Zendaya, who plays a tennis coach in “Challengers,” follows Kirsten Dunst and Emma Stone as the main love interest in the Spider-Man films. Dunst, 41, portrayed Mary Jane Watson in the 2000s trilogy, while Stone, 35, played Gwen Stacy in the 2012 and 2014 movies.

Kirsten Dunst played a tennis player in the 2004 romantic comedy “Wimbledon,” alongside Paul Bettany. Moreover, this film was released approximately three months after “Spider-Man 2,” where she co-starred with Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker, was shown in theaters.

Stone became part of the Spider-Man universe when Sony rebooted the franchise with Andrew Garfield in 2012’s “The Amazing Spider-Man.” However, this series only lasted for two films. Following this, Sony and Marvel Studios made a deal to include the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, leading to the films featuring Tom Holland and Zendaya.

After her portrayal of Gwen Stacy ended, Stone portrayed tennis legend Billie Jean King in the 2017 film “Battle of the Sexes,” which depicts King’s iconic 1973 match against Bobby Riggs, played by Steve Carell.

Coincidentally, all three sets of live-action Spider-Man leads have dated each other after filming entries in the series together. “Challengers” is in theaters starting April 26th.
