The ongoing divorce battle between Hollywood power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt has taken a new turn as Jolie accuses Pitt of making “abusive” requests in their NDA agreement. The feud has escalated to involve their $500 million winery, further adding fuel to the fire in their high-profile separation. But, what can we expect from the ongoing Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt lawsuit? Here is what we know so far.

The Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt Lawsuit Continues

Angelina Jolie is refusing to hand over all her past non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) to Brad Pitt amid their legal battle over their $500 million winery. Jolie’s lawyers argue that Pitt’s recent motion to obtain her NDAs is “expensive,” “wasteful,” “unreasonable,” and “abusive.” Jolie claims that Pitt requested her to sign a comprehensive NDA during their failed Miraval deal to silence her from speaking about allegations of abuse against him and their family, including an incident on a flight in 2016.

Angelina Jolie has claimed that Brad Pitt’s history of physically abusing her began before a flight from France to Los Angeles in September 2016. She alleges that during this flight, Pitt also directed physical abuse toward their children for the first time, prompting her to leave him immediately thereafter.

What Else Does the Lawsuit Claim?

Angelina Jolie argues in court documents that handing over other NDAs she has signed would invade the privacy of other parties, potentially revealing sensitive information about compensation and contracts. She claims that Brad Pitt wanted her to sign an overly burdensome NDA, which would cover his personal misconduct, not just related to their winery deal, as a condition for her to sell her stake to him.

Jolie claims that their winery deal collapsed due to the unfair NDA requested by Brad Pitt. Subsequently, she sold her shares to a subsidiary of the Stoli Group. Pitt has objected to this sale, alleging that she unfairly sold the stake without his consent or involvement.

Where Is the Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt Lawsuit Coming From?

Brad Pitt’s legal team filed documents in LA Superior Court requesting that Angelina Jolie disclose other NDAs she has made with third parties, including her personal staff. They argue that these NDAs will reveal whether Jolie genuinely considered Pitt’s non-disclosure agreement request as the reason for ending the deal, as she claimed.

Angelina Jolie’s lawyers respond to Brad Pitt’s request for disclosure of other NDAs by stating that Pitt intends to argue that Jolie’s consideration or entry into other NDAs unrelated to Pitt’s abuse could undermine her claim that his proposed NDA led to the deal’s collapse. They argue that Pitt demands Jolie to review every contract she has considered or entered over the past two decades to find NDAs, which would reveal private information about others and violate their rights.

Why Is It Still Ongoing?

In a new filing, Angelina Jolie’s legal team argues that Brad Pitt’s requests intrude on her privacy by seeking contracts between her and other parties, most of which are likely employment-related and involve compensation details. They contend that these third parties have their own privacy rights, and Pitt’s request doesn’t afford them the opportunity to protect those rights. Additionally, they assert that Pitt’s latest NDA request is irrelevant to the case.

Jolie’s lawyers argue that compelling her to gather and produce extensive documentation is costly, inefficient, and unreasonable, representing another instance of Pitt’s abusive behavior toward her. They urge the court not to allow it. A hearing is scheduled for May 16, with no full trial expected this year. The ongoing legal battle between the former Hollywood couple revolves around the vineyard they acquired in 2008, with disputes unfolding in courts in California and Luxembourg since Jolie filed for divorce in 2016.
