Billie Eilish Addresses Split From Jesse Rutherford

In May of this year, it was announced that Billie Eilish had split up from then-boyfriend Jesse Rutherford. The singer who is known for her smash hits such as “Bad Guy”, first met the lead singer of The Neighbourhood back in October 2022. Their relationship was met with heavy criticism as Eilish was only 20 at the time, while Rutherford was 30.

The couple then made their relationship official, by posting a picture of their Halloween costumes. Billie Eilish dressed as a baby, and Jesse Rutherford went as an elderly man. This was considered a direct reply to people who were speaking against Rutherford being 10 years older than Eilish.

Billie Eilish Responds

Last Saturday, the singer took to her Instagram stories, to answer fan questions. Amidst other questions, Billie Eilish was asked whether she was dating anyone. The singer firmly responded with “NO SIRRRRRRR” followed by three grinning, smiley faces.

Following this, the singer answered questions that covered topics ranging from her pet dog, Shark, to her current favorite song. Billie then specifically chose a fan question, who was asking her about Jesse. Billie replied to the question with: “Very very good friends only. My homie forever.“

The Relationship History

Back in October 2022, when the couple made their relationship public, Billie Eilish openly expressed her enthusiasm and joy about being in a relationship with Rutherford. She even playfully referred to him as the “most attractive individual alive” during a conversation with Vanity Fair.

She also added, “Could I get a round of applause here? Thank you, Jesse Rutherford, everyone.” Billie went on to say: “It’s really cool and I’m really excited and I’m really happy about it, I managed to get… my life to a point where I not only was known by a person that I thought was the hottest alive…“

As a couple, they attended the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty in March and shared Easter celebrations in April. However, by May, a representative for Eilish verified to PEOPLE that the two had decided to part ways on good terms. The representative’s statement said:

“We can confirm Billie and Jesse did split amicably and remain good friends. All cheating rumors are false. Both are currently single.“

We are certainly delighted to hear that the couple decided to remain friends even after their split. As Eilish continues onto a new chapter of her life, her honesty in addressing the situation serves as a testament to her growth and resilience in the face of change.
